WWE superstar Natalya is going through a tough time on screen and her luck didn’t change on Raw this week.

The veteran wrestler was due to face Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley on Monday night, but her opponent took a cheap shot before the bell and unleashed a devastating attack.

Rhea was left standing while Natalya was hurt, and she has now apologised to fans after a run of disappointing and difficult nights.

Shortly after the show went off the air, she tweeted: ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love. I’m so sorry. 💔’

Fans have been rallying behind her in the replies, with one person writing: ‘You are amazing nattie!’

‘You have absolutely nothing to apologize for,’ a second fan replied, while another added: ‘Thank you for giving your best! You are amazing!’

Over the weekend, the former champion shared a poster promoting the planned match with Rhea, but insisted she wasn’t going in ‘confident’.

She said: ‘I won’t be showing up confident. I won’t be showing up blind. But I will be showing up and I will always give it everything I’ve got. Monday we’ll all find out together if I have what it takes. Wish me luck.’

Fans are wondering if Natalya’s social media posts are leading to a character shift, after she recently referred to her loss to Rhea at Night of Champions and pondered how she could change direction.

‘I haven’t been the same since Night Of Champions. I’ve beaten myself up worse than any one else could ever beat me,’ she candidly wrote. ‘I wish I knew how to turn it all around.’

Last month, Natalya – who is a former Divas and SmackDown Women’s Champion as well as previously holding tag team gold with Tamina – claimed she has ‘never been a favourite’ and appeared to fight back tears as she opened up on feelings of self doubt.

Speaking in an emotional video days before Night of Champions, she said: ‘It’s hard to not see comments online, waves and waves of comments that I’ve read on twitter and people’s podcasts have talked about it saying, “Nattie’s not on Rhea’s level” and “she doesn’t have Rhea’s momentum”.

‘I started thinking about it and I was like, maybe they’re right. Right now, I’m not on Rhea’s level, I don’t have her momentum.’

She added: ‘The truth is, I’ve never been a favourite – I’ve never been a favourite! It’s something I’ve struggled with and I’ve fought against. I haven’t lasted this long in WWE by not fighting tooth and nail for every single thing I have, because I know I’ve never been a favourite.’
