Tens of thousands of women in Iceland refused to go to work today, including the country’s female prime minister, in the name of gender equality.
Known as the “Women’s Day Off”, the 24-hour strike saw shops shuttered, and hospitals operating on skeleton staff, as women protested against wage discrimination and gender-based violence in the country.
