Watch Matthew Perry’s most iconic Friends scenes
Tributes are pouring in from around the world for the actor Matthew Perry, who has died at the age of 54.
The American-Canadian star, best known for his portrayal of sarcastic joker Chandler Bing in Friends, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Saturday 28 October.
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, who was friends with Perry at school, wrote on Twitter/X: “Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them.
“Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed.”
Actors Selma Blair, Paget Brewster, Octavia Spencer, Maggie Wheeler and Yvette Nicole Brown are among the celebrities who have also shared condolence messages.
During her show in Las Vegas this weekend, Adele shared a tribute to Perry on stage, saying: “He was so open with his struggles with addiction and sobriety, which I think is incredibly, incredibly brave. I just wanna say how much I love what he did for all of us.”
Police were called to Perry’s home at 4pm on Saturday and found him unresponsive, law enforcement sources said.
He died in an apparent drowning in his hot tub, his representative told NBC News.

The ‘Friends’ star’s performances were a masterclass in comic timing. And in his life outside of Chandler Bing, he was disarmingly honest about his frailties and his struggles with addiction.
