Kobel; Sule, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Ryerson; Ozcan, Sabitzer, Nmecha; Adeyemi, Fullkrug, Brandt
The team sheets are in!!!
Newcastle stats
Newcastle are third in their Champions League group with only one win and one loss out of all three Champions League matches.
The Toon are only two points away from Group F leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
The Magpies are winless in their last two games against German teams in a European competition, of which they have lost one.
That is after winning each of their first four games in Europe against Bundesliga sides.
Borussia Dortmund stats
Borussia Dortmund are second in Group F – also known as the “Group of Death” as it also includes Newcastle, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.
Dortmund have only won one Champions League game out of three – which was against the Magpies at St James’ Park – and lost another.
BVB haven’t beaten an English team at home or away in the competition since the 1996-1997 campaign against Manchester United.
This will be the hosts’ 150th match since the tournament’s inception in 1992, so far the Bundesliga giants have won 69 and lost 49 games in Europe’s elite competition.
Borussia Dortmund vs Newcastle Head-to-Head
This is only the second time Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle face off.
Their first and only meeting of course took place this year in the Champions League.
Dortmund won the first leg 1-0 at St James’ Park in October thanks to Felix Nmecha’s winner.
That was the Magpies’ first match in the competition in 20 years.
Good afternoon from Dortmund
Welcome to SunSport’s live blog coverage of the Champions League clash between Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle.
Kostas here, and I will be bringing you all the action from the Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund boss Edin Terzic will be without ex-Liverpool ace Emre Can, who is still dealing with a hip injury.
Mateu Morey and Julien Duranville are also still healing from a knee and thigh injury respectively.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, on the other hand, may be without Jacob Murphy and Dan Burn.
Murphy appeared to suffer a recurrence of his shoulder injury while Burn tweaked his back on Sunday’s controversial Premier League clash against Arsenal.
Matt Targett (hamstring), Alexander Isak (groin), Harvey Barnes (foot), Elliot Anderson (back), Sven Botman (knee) and Javi Manquillo (groin) are also out.
And of course the suspended Sandro Tonali will not be part of Howe’s squad.
