MEGHAN Markle is trying to shrug off a difficult past year and return to her popular persona by appearing in a new ad, experts say.
The Duchess of Sussex has appeared in a playful Instagram ad for a coffee company, a firm she holds shares in.
The cameo appearance sees the former Suits star doing multiple roles at coffee company Clevr Blends, including packing, working on the digital team, and on the operations team.
Experts say the Duchess is trying to tap into her fun side with the social media ad as she tries to move on from a difficult and polarising year.
“I think we will see a lot more personality led content created that concentrates on Meghan as a media personality who is kind, compassionate, entertaining and not afraid to poke fun at herself,” branding expert Nick Ede told MailOnline.
Ede said tapping into humour and showing she can be compassionate and entertaining was the best way to rebuild her reputation authentically.
Royal expert Phil Dampier said Meghan and her husband Harry know they have overdone playing the victim card and she is seeking to “relaunch” herself in the new year.
“This is showing her in a better more relaxed way. It’s all about image and nothing happens by accident, but I’m sure the King, William and Catherine would be delighted if they just got on with a new life in California and stopped the feuding.”
He said Meghan does have a fun side and advised that she would be better to show that off rather than “claiming her life is a misery”.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams also told MailOnline that the Sussexes would be concerned about being labelled by the Hollywood Reporter as two of the biggest losers of 2023.
He said the change of direction for the duchess could take her back to the woman loved at the time of her engagement to Harry.
“However, her fleeting appearance as a lowly intern in a brief promotional video for Clevr is great fun. She’s showing a sense of humour, sending herself up and not seeking to save the world,” he said.
In the Instagram advert for the coffee company the 42-year-old packs lattes, works at a computer for the digital team, and makes hot drinks.
At the end of the video the American royal fails to fist bump a colleague as she walks off camera causing the whole team to laugh out loud.
Meghan features alongside the CEO and co-founder Hannah Mendoza during the ad which was filmed at the company’s headquarters.
The footage was shared on Clevr Blends’ Instagram page with the caption: “Damn, you’re keeping us BUSY right now! Had to call in some reinforcements.
Clevr Blends is based in California where Meghan and hubby Prince Harry now live.
It was founded by Hannah Mendoza and Roger Coppola in Santa Barbara in 2019.
Meghan first announced she was backing the “wellness brand” in December 2020.
