Colourful, eye-catching, eclectic: the American designer and fashion icon Iris Apfel has died at the age of 102.

Famous for her over-sized glasses, chunky jewellery and distinctive outfits – her Instagram profile sums up her style, proclaiming: “More is more and less is a bore”.

She refused to retire, describing herself as a “geriatric starlet” and blazing a trail for older influencers.
