Well, luckily, as reported by the Daily Mail, one cleaning expert has come to rescue with a rather easy hack – and it’s all down to a special button that can open the door with no faff.

The whizz, named Jeeves, took to TikTok where he showed how to access the ”secret latch” many may not be aware of.

According to Jeeves, from New York, the USA, this magic switch on your washing machine will allow you to open the door in case of emergency – and this also comes in handy when the machine is malfunctioning and won’t release the door.

The secret button is located right next to the filter – which you should be cleaning out every few months.

According to Currys, homeowners should do this every four to six weeks, and it’s usually found right at the bottom of the machine.

To continue with the cleaning process, you may need to remove a small cover to access the filter, and place towels on the floor to prevent leaking water from spilling out once it’s opened.

The cleaning guru instructed to use something small and slide the latch to the left – this is be a string that opens the door and will immediately end the cycle and open the door that’s been locked.

However, according to him, this should be only used as a last resort as if your washing machine will not open.
