Rio Ferdinand hailed Harry Kane for his composed penalty in Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash against Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side took the lead in the first leg of their quarter-final tie at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening through Bukayo Saka’s excellent finish in the 12th minute.
However, Bayern were level just six minutes later when Serge Gnabry finished off a slick move after a loose pass from Gabriel.
Thomas Tuchel’s side then took the lead after William Saliba fouled Leroy Sane following a superb run into the box from the former Manchester City winger.
Kane stepped up to take the penalty and waited for David Raya to make his move before rolling the ball to the space next to the Arsenal goalkeeper.
When analysing the start of the move which led to Bayern’s penalty, Ferdinand said: ‘[Manuel] Neuer at that point there is taking the mickey at the Emirates, flicking it up with his left foot.’
Ferdinand was then impressed Kane’s cool penalty as he sent Raya the wrong way with ease.
‘Harry Kane pea-rolled that in,’ Ferdinand said.
‘That’s like an Under-9s penalty, out of order, really, at the Emirates.’
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown added: ‘He’s [Kane] taking the Mickey, really.
‘I think the keeper [Raya] has looked a little bit panicky, a little bit rushed tonight.
‘Maybe he was again for the penalty. He dived so early for that.’
