Glamorous pink energy about a doll turned feminist icon… or a dark and disturbing drama about the man behind the atomic bomb – if you drew a Venn diagram of people buying tickets for these two blockbuster films you’d think they would barely overlap, if at all.

Yet going to see Barbie and Oppenheimer – even both on the same day – is very much a thing, despite the cinematic whiplash. And of course the internet has a name for it – Barbenheimer. Both films have smashed box office records in their opening weekend.
