Moscow is deploying additional troops to the Avdiivka front, according to Russian military bloggers, following a failed major offensive last week that resulted in severe losses.

The reinforcements are set to arrive as Russian soldiers and militias have become bogged down in recent weeks on the front, in the Donetsk Oblast, amid ongoing problems with frontal mechanised assaults

Mashovets, a Russian blogger, reported that elements of the Russian 2nd Motorized Rifle Division have also reinforced Russian forces in the Kupyansk direction.

Ukrainian Tavriisk Group of Forces Spokesperson Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun has also indicated that Russia is continuing deployments to Avdiivka to bolster the offensive.

It comes as Ukrainian forces last week launched an “unexpected” counterattack towards Pisky, five miles southwest of the city of Donetsk, pushing Russian forces out of positions in that area, according to a prominent military blogger.
