The youngest son of American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr has died.

Dexter Scott King died on Monday at his California home after a ‘valiant battle with prostate cancer’, according the King Center. He was 62.

‘He transitioned peacefully in his sleep at home with me in Malibu,’ stated his wife Leah Weber King.

‘He gave it everything and battled this terrible disease until the end. As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might.’
