Chaos engulfed London’s Charing Cross after a trespasser jumped on the rail tracks.
Hundreds of commuters were evacuated after the alarm was raised at the station during rush hour.
Trains between London Bridge and Charring Cross were halted, while others were cancelled or diverted.
Pictures circulating social media showed a man sitting on top of a railway bridge over the Thames.
By 7pm, Southeastern Rail said the trespasser had been apprehended, while the power to the line switched back on.
One rail company suggested that major disruption would continue until 8.15pm.
There were delays on the Overground as well as the Piccadilly, Victoria, Bakerloo and Central lines on the Tube.
